Demotivationals and LOLcats

Oh man, who doesn't love a good demotivational?

Who doesn't love a good LOLcats?

But who knows why?

Well, demotivationals are ironic and we all know how awesome irony is. Alanis Morissette told us all about it. It really comes down to the fact that people enjoy a smart-ass. They'll complain about them behind their backs of course, but at parties and in class when there is a substitute, they are hilarious.

But how about the lolcats? Who was it that thought, "If cat's could speak they'd be stupid and they'd really love cheeseburgers." I don't know, but lolcats run rampant on the internet. Is it also irony? Alanis really knew what she was talking about and was way ahead of her time.

Unfortunately, I love demotivationals. One is something like, "Who knows. Maybe you were put on the earth to show everyone else what not to do."

You might comment. Is this an entry for media? If so, how is this media. How is the media the message? What's the purpose, the audience, etc.?
